Life cycle of the Flea

In southern California, the Cat Flea is the most common flea species that will feed on just about any warm-blooded animal, including humans. Fleas wait in dense shaded foliage for a host to attach to, where they will be carried back to your home. They are often found feeding and living off local wildlife including opossums, raccoons, and skunks which have adapted to living near and around humans. Fleas transport themselves on rodents, pets, humans, birds, any other warm-blooded creature you come into contact with. Clothes, pet bedding and furniture are some of their hotspots where fleas feed and breed. While most Flea bites are just irritating itchy red bumps, fleas can also cause many health issues ranging from allergic reaction from bites to the carrying of illnesses including Bubonic Plague, Typhus , and Tapeworms.
